Register for fall programs at the Caldwell Community Center! Programs for the upcoming season for children and adults are, among others: swimming, competitive stroke technique classes, special needs groups, karate, speed and agility training, hip hop, dance/creative movement and restorative/gentle yoga.

The West Caldwell Council will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in town hall, at 30 Clinton Road. 

The Verona Historical Society will hold a guided tour (in photos) of the Historic and Intriguing Essex County Penitentiary built on the North Caldwell/Verona border in 1873 on Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Ave.

The Essex Water Color Club will be hosting an exhibit of the members' watercolor painting starting Tuesday at Art At 1275 Gallery, at 1275 Bloomfield Ave. in Fairfield, building 1, Unit 3. The exhibit will run through Nov. 1.

This exhibit is open to the public and will include 40 paintings of various subjects, including landscapes, still lifes and portraits. The reception and awards presentation will be held at the Gallery from Saturday from 5-8 p.m. In addition to the reception, a critique session will follow the awards presentation and will be conducted by Ed Havas, a longtime member of the American Watercolor Society and former president of the Club. Refreshments will be served and all are invited to attend. For more information, contact (973) 994-1597.
