Basic C.E.R.T. Training Class

Held at the Essex County Police Academy in Cedar Grove, these emergency education courses are free to residents between 18 and 80. Training is usually once per year so please register now. 


You must register at the West Essex CERT website (see below) to receive a registration form prior to July 9 in order to be considered as an attendee.


CERT is a nation-wide program of community volunteers that support community efforts in time of need and emergency. There are 178 CERT teams in New Jersey, second only in our nation by California with 343 teams.

Your local CERT volunteers, West Essex CERT, has served your community during floods, severe weather, at parades and graduations. In short, we support local emergency services. But most importantly, trained members know how to act in an emergency at home.


During this 5 day training session, you will learn 9 modules necessary to train you as a C.E.R.T. member. At the end of the course, you will be a certified member of the team:
