Police are investigating a burglary that took place in the early morning hours last week at a Bloomfield Avenue restaurant in Caldwell. A West Caldwell teen is one of three area residents charged last week with driving while intoxicated, according to police officials. Former Board of Education president and retired Lincoln School secretary endorsed by Caldwell Democratic Committee. Six James Caldwell High School seniors have signed letters of intent to play college sports, Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools announced Thursday. Caldwell's newest pizza place opened this week but all signs point to something different baking in the ovens at 437 Bloomfield Ave.

Three teens, including one who was found unconscious in the snow, wound up in the hospital Saturday night after an Essex Fells party was broken up when a parent told police she discovered kids were drinking. A former Caldwell Police sergeant committed suicide and his wife was murdered inside their Parsippany home, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. Chester Andraka, 46, committed suicide with a single gunshot wound and his wife, Rosaria Andraka, 43, was killed by "gunshot wounds inflicted upon her," according to a brief statement released Tuesday evening by Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp. Funeral arrangements have been set for Monday. A 19-year-old Scotch Plains man, whom police say has been entering unlocked cars in a high school parking lot and taking wallets, jewelry and other valuables, was arrested Saturday during the Essex County Basketball Tournament. A 69-year-old Caldwell man has been charged in the hit-and-run accident on New Year's Eve that injured two teens, West Caldwell Police Chief Michael Bramhall announced Saturday morning. Two SUVS and a sedan—all with keys left inside—were reported stolen Friday morning in the Caldwells, according to police. School officials removed a student from James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell Monday after learning the boy kept a list of eight names in a notebook, school officials announced Tuesday. School officials locked down Washington Elementary School in West Caldwell for about an hour Tuesday afternoon while police investigated reports of a possible gunshot in the area. Dennis and Conni Murray, longtime residents of Roseland, learned about Friday’s massacre in Newtown, Conn. the same way most Americans did—on the news.
