Saturday Mail Delivery to End, Says USPS

The U.S. Postal Service announced it will end Saturday mail delivery by Aug. 1. Speak out: How will this affect you?

Calling the six-days-per-week mail delivery business model “no longer sustainable,” the U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday it will eliminate Saturday delivery of mail during the week of Aug. 5. The plan to change delivery from six days a week to five would only affect the street delivery of first-class mail. Packages, mail-order medicines, priority and express mail would still be delivered on Saturdays, and local post offices will remain open for business Saturdays. I haven't received mail delivery for the past four Mondays, as well. Does this mean the USPS will only deliver mail Tuesday thru Friday??? #whatsupwiththat   more ›

Stamp Prices to Rise to 46 Cents This Month

U.S. Postal Service rates are set to increase by one cent on Jan. 27.

Residents going to the post office will need to carry an extra penny or two.  Postage rates will rise slightly this month, according to the U.S. Postal Service. According to an announcement by the postal service, new postage rates go into effect on Jan. 27, with letter and postcard stamps being affected. The U.S. Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations and doesn’t receive tax dollars for operating expenses. Stamp prices will increase one cent, from 45 cents to 46 cents, to mail one-ounce letters. Postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. The cost for letters weighing more than one ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce. Letters …
