Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools announced a change to the school calendar Friday. Schools will be closed on Friday, May 24, creating a four-day Memorial weekend. The Board of Education passed a resolution in December stating if no snow/emergency days were used by April 19, then May 24 would be designated a school holiday. The resolution was passed after the calendar was shuffled around to accommodate a number of unexpected days off following Superstorm Sandy. "I wish all families a safe and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend," Superintendent James Heinegg said in a letter posted on the district's website.

Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools will add two days to the 2012-2013 calendar thanks to Superstorm Sandy. The district's board of education will vote next week on the superintendent's recommendation to open schools on Monday, Jan. 21 and Tuesday, Feb. 19.
