The 11th district congressman addressed students in Livingston.
Tenth-term U.S. Rep. Rodney P. Frelinghuysen (R-NJ 11th) addressed students at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston on Wednesday, reiterating his support for Israel and defending Congressional spending. Frelinghuysen serves the newly redistricted 11th district, which includes 54 municipalities, including communities in Morris, Sussex, Passaic, and Essex counties. Frelinghuysen told students he spends weekdays in Washington D.C., and weekends in New Jersey, traveling throughout his district. One of his goals, said Frelinghuysen, is "to put a human face on Congress." He noted that many citizens speak of Congress as a body, without knowing their representatives and how their interests are served. Students introduced Frelinghuysen as a…

Rodney Frelinghuysen, the longtime Republican congressman for the 11th District, met with local party activists and supporters a few weeks ago* in Nutley, where he spoke cordially about President Obama but still drew sharp distinctions with him on health care, foreign policy and other issues. “I’m damn excited about getting 270,000 new voters in 14 towns,” said Frelinghuysen, whose legislative district has grown to include Nutley, some of Bloomfield and other parts of Essex and Passaic counties after the state’s congressional districts were redrawn late last year. Frelinghuysen faces Democrat John Arvanites in the November election. Speaking at the Diamond Spring restaurant, Frelinghuysen, who has served nine terms in the House of …

I attended a town hall meeting on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Roseland Municipal Building that was conducted by Rodney Frelinghuysen, the Congressman representing NJ’s 11th district. As a veteran who served this country, I have a special interest in understanding how and why our representatives vote on issues of war, the military, and veterans’ affairs. I asked Congressman Frelinghuysen three questions about his voting record: 1. Why did you vote against a house resolution to remove our troops from Afghanistan? 2. Why did you vote against bills that would have provided clean water to our troops in Iraq and that would have given our military units with minimum rest periods between deployments to Iraq? 3. Why did you vote against a …

Democrat running against longtime Republican incumbent Rodney Frelinghuysen to represent Verona and Cedar Grove, other Essex towns in redrawn 11th Congressional District.
John Arvanites wants to represent everyone. Arvanites is the Democratic candidate seeking to represent New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Essex County towns like Verona, Cedar Grove, Montclair, Bloomfield and the Caldwells. The district was redrawn following the 2010 Census. Arvanites is running against longtime incumbent Rodney Frelinghuysen. Arvanites said he is interested in truly representing the needs of the entire district, not just people located on either end of the socio-economic and political spectrums. “We don’t have a middle class anymore, we have a majority class and that’s who I want to represent,” Arvanites said. “That’s why you get elected to these positions, to do what’s best for the majority, not …

Medicare, maintaining English as the official US language, and the security of the border in the state of Arizona were all topics fielded and discussed by Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen over the weekend at a town hall held in Roseland. The town hall meeting was one of a series of stops on Frelinghuysen's "listening tour" around the 11th Congressional district. The district comprises portions of Essex, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Somerset counties. In Roseland, Frelinghuysen was introduced by Mayor John Duthie.
