FBI Searches for Alleged West Orange, Caldwell Bank Robber

Authorities say the man who robbed a Caldwell bank Thursday unsuccessfully attempted to rob a West Orange bank an hour earlier.

Local police and the FBI are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a bank in Caldwell just one hour after he attempted to rob a West Orange bank late Thursday afternoon, officials announced Friday. According to officials in the Newark FBI office, the man entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 412 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange at about 5 p.m. on April 18 and demanded money before fleeing without any cash.  About an hour later, police believe the same man robbed a PNC Bank at 423 Bloomfield Ave. in Caldwell. Police have not released the amount of money taken. Officials said, the man was wearing the same shoes and hat for both robberies. East Orange Man Sentenced For 2010 Essex Fells Robbery

Reginald Anthony, 30, of East Orange was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit a burglary that resulted in the death of 91-year-old Robert Nevius of Essex Fells.

A Superior Court judge in Newark Wednesday sentenced an East Orange man to 20 years in prison for the 2010 beating, stabbing and robbery of a 91-year-old Essex Fells man. Reginald Anthony, 30, was sentenced before Superior Court Judge Peter J. Vazquez for the robbery and the resulting death of Robert Nevius of Essex Fells, a decorated World War II veteran. On Nov. 14, a jury found Anthony guilty of second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary but acquitted him on murder charges. “There is a need to protect the public from this defendant,” said Vasquez during the sentencing. Under the No Early Release Act, Anthony must serve 85 percent of his sentence, or a minimum of 17 years, before he is eligible for parole, said Acting Essex County …

Serial Burglar Suspected in 150 Burglaries Across North Jersey

Man caught on tape burglarizing a West Orange Chinese Restaurant is also wanted in Montclair, Millburn, Verona and Fairfield.

A man suspected in more than 150 commercial burglaries in four New Jersey counties over the last two years has been caught on surveillance tape by the West Orange Police Department. The video of the serial burglar's last known job, on Nov. 18 at 4:30 a.m., at the #1 Chinese Kitchen on Main Street, depicts the man breaking into the restaurant by smashing the lower half of a glass door, crawling through the opening, and rummaging through the cash register. He found the register empty and left 15 minutes later, police said.  Once police captured the man’s appearance on tape, they were able to get his face out across state channels, West Orange Det. Caldwell Police Release Sketch of Exxon Assailant

Caldwell police say suspect is a man, who possibly left with a second person in a light blue car.

Caldwell Police have released a sketch of a man believed to have assaulted a gas station employee and robbed an Exxon gas station on Aug. 13. Caldwell Det. Brad Palatucci said the man is described as a man, aged 30 to 35, who is 6 feet 1 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall, with a medium build and a medium brown complexion. The Monday afternoon robbery sent the gas station employee to the hospital with a head injury. The employee was apparently struck in the head in the gas station office before being robbed of cash and cartons of cigarettes. The Exxon station is located on Bloomfield Avenue, not far from Caldwell's municipal complex.
