Dr. George Fielding, doctor who performed weight-reduction surgery on governor back in February, named in 12 malpractice actions.
The doctor responsible for the Presidents Day Lap-Band surgery on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is in hot water over several malpractice suits, according to a published report Sunday. Dr. George Fielding, the chief of New York University’s Langone Weight Management Program, who performed the weight-reduction surgery on the governor and Jets coach Rex Ryan, has been sued by the families of three women who died and has been named in 12 malpractice suits – including a suit by former Met player Lee Mazzilli, whose teenage daughter suffered stomach perforations, the New York Post said. All state buildings will comply with executive order on Thursday.
Governor Chris Christie issued an executive order calling for flags to be flown at half-staff on all state buildings Thursday to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing and show solidarity with the city, officials said. The order, which was issued late Tuesday, will effect state and U.S. flags on “all State departments, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities during appropriate hours on Thursday, April 18, 2013, in recognition and mourning of the passing of the victims of the bombings that took place at the Boston Marathon,” a release from the governor’s office said. When Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. presents his 10th State of the County address on Tuesday, Feb. 19, he’ll deliver the address before an audience that will include Gov. Chris Christie, state Senate President Stephen Sweeney and state Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver. When New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Monday night, the sparks began to fly immediately. Christie poked fun at himself as David Letterman pointed out his own reputation for making fat jokes at the governor’s expense, according to a clip released of the appearance on CBSlocal.com. Governor Chris Christie formally requested President Barack Obama declare a pre-landfall emergency for New Jersey, according to a press release issued by the governor's office. The declaration would allow the state to request funding and other assistance for actions taken in advance of Hurricane Sandy. "We have taken this action to assist communities which have taken extraordinary measures to insure the safety of the public during this very serious and dangerous storm," Christie said in the release. The governor was caught on video berating a heckler on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk.
Maybe it's the summer heat. Governor Chris Christie can't seem to keep a lid on his temper these days. For the second time in a week, Christie lost his cool in public. While on vacation with his family in Seaside Heights on Thursday, Christie lashed out at a passerby on the Boardwalk, the Huffington Post reports. The passerby made a derisive comment about the governor's education policies, according to TMZ.com. Last week, the governor berated a reporter during a press conference, after the reporter asked an off-topic question. Despite the recent flare-ups, the Republican governor is considered a front-runner for the GOP vice-presidential nomination.
