James Caldwell Doubles Up MKA in Boy's Lacrosse

JCHS' Mike Wasik scores four goals, adds assist in 12-6 win.

James Caldwell High School's Mike Wasik scored four goals and assisted on another as the Chiefs (8-3-0) defeated Montclair Kimberley (4-8-0), 12-6. James Caldwell had a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Cougars 6-1 in Montclair Saturday afternoon. Goalie John Vogt had 15 saves for the Chiefs. Rob Strain had 10 saves for Montclair in the loss. Ryan Fennelly had two goals and two assists for MKA.

Evolution Lacrosse Offers Fall Clinics

Clinics for boys and girls in grades K-9 will be held at Rand Field in Montclair on Sundays.

Following up on summer camps where Evolution Lacrosse Academy welcomed over 90 players from all over Essex County, including: Montclair, Glen Ridge, Caldwell, North Caldwell, Verona, Livingston, South Orange, Mapelwood, Nutley, West Orange, and Bloomfield, Evolution Lacrosse Academy is offering instructional clinics on Sundays in Essex County this fall. The clinics will be led by Matt Podwoski, an experienced educator and coach with more than 20 years of experience, and his trained staff of lacrosse player/coaches.  Podwoski is currently the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Livingston High School. Clinics for boys and girls in grades K-9 will be held at Rand Field in Montclair on Sundays, Sept. 30 through Nov. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. …

Focus On Camps: Evolution Lacrosse Academy

Safe, fun, competitive, and age-appropriate instruction in lacrosse will take place this July in Montclair.

Evolution Lacrosse Academy, a premier lacrosse-training program in Northern New Jersey, is offering two one-week camps in Essex County this summer. The camps will be led by Montclair resident Matt Podwoski, an experienced educator and coach with more than 20 years of experience, and his trained staff of lacrosse player/coaches.  Co-Ed and Mini-Laxers camps will be held in July at Anderson Park in Montclair during the weeks of July 16-20 and July 23-27. Podwoski said that children will benefit from an age and skill appropriate curriculum and a coach-to-player ratio of 1:5. “My goal is for kids to be active, have fun, and play with their friends, while learning to love this dynamic game,” said Podwoski, founder of Evolution Lacrosse. …

James Caldwell Alumni Light Up Scoreboard for Monmouth Lacrosse

Former teammates reunite, help university achieve first winning season.

Two former James Caldwell High School lacrosse players, Vin Sodano (Class of ’08) and Griffin Nikolayuk (Class of ’11) reunited as players and friends on the lacrosse field this season at Monmouth University to help power the Hawks to their first winning season. After records of 1-8 and 2-5 in their first two years, this year the Hawks compiled a 9-2 record, finishing second in the Liberty Conference of the NCLL behind powerhouse St. Joesph’s. The Hawks scored 119 goals averaging just under 11 GPG with the JCHS Chiefs alums putting in more than half of those. Co-Captain and senior Vin Sodano had a team leading 41 goals and 9 assists, while freshman Griffin Nikolayuk added 22 goals and 23 assists. Head Coach Jerry Dohn says the team will …

Caldwell Lacrosse Defeats Millburn 5-3

Varsity 2-0 going into Thursday's game with West Morris Central.

The Caldwell Chiefs squared off against the Millburn Millers in boys Lacrosse on the road Monday. Caldwell varsity defeated Millburn 5-3, but the Millers junior varsity squad came back to beat Caldwell with a score of 5-3. Caldwell varsity players who scored were Timothy DeVincenzo, Sean Dyer, Billy Pierce and Ryan Slane. In the varsity game, Caldwell boys scored one goal each in the first, third and fourth quarters and two goals in the second quarter. The Millers played tough and scored goals in the second and fourth quarters. Players Ben Cebula, Maxwell Nemerow and Nathan Weinrauch all scored for Millburn.
