CBS' John Elliot to Support Walk to Cure Diabetes

All are welcome to participate in Washington School fundraiser benefiting JDRF.

CBS 2 weatherman John Elliot will be at Washington Elementary School's Walk to Cure Diabetes this Saturday, the school's Helping Hands Committee has announced. Elliot, an area resident, will preside over the ribbon cutting at the start of the race at 10 a.m. The fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will take place in West Caldwell at James Caldwell High School’s Bonnel Field. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration will be $25 per family, $15 per individual. The first 200 registrants will receive a water bottle and a bracelet. Registration on the day of the event will be $30 per family, $20 per individual. Washington School to Hold Walk to Cure Diabetes

Proceeds from event will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Washington Elementary School's Helping Hands Committee is organizing a Walk to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, Feb. 2. The fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will take place in West Caldwell at James Caldwell High School’s Bonnel Field from 10 a.m. to noon. (Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.) Pre-registration will be $25 per family, $15 per individual. Magician Raises Money for Diabetes

West Caldwell resident David Corsaro will be at the Caldwell Farmers’ Market on Friday, August 24, performing magic as well as raising awareness about the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

David Corsaro is a dad, and a professional magician. On Friday, he will bring his skills to a local farmers market as part of a fundraiser against juvenile diabetes. The West Caldwell resident will be at the Caldwell Farmers’ Market on Friday, August 24, from noon to 6 p.m., performing magic as well as raising awareness about the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  Corsaro and his wife, Lauren, have been actively involved with JDRF since their two-year-old Matthew was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was only 16 months old. Last year, the Corsaros raised more than $14,000 and had over 40 walkers on team “Miracle for Matthew” at the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Jersey City. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to Honor Former Governor's Family

JDRF honors the Byrne family of Short Hills as 'Family of the Year' for their work with the regional chapter.

When the grandson of Ruthi and Gov. Brendan Byrne was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the entire family got involved with the management of the disease. “We’re a close family and what happens to one of us, happens to all of us,” said Ruthi Byrne. “There were 15 family members in the doctors’ office at that first meeting to learn what to do.” Before they knew it, the Byrnes became experts on what their grandson Danny Zinn can and cannot eat, when he should eat and when he needs insulin. They also became active in the Northern New Jersey and Rockland County Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
