Sirens Signal Santa Swinging Through Caldwells
North Caldwell and Caldwell firetrucks escort St. Nick through towns on the weekend before Christmas.
'Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the Caldwells sirens could be heard signalling the arrival of Santa. Volunteer fire departments from North Caldwell and Caldwell escorted the jolly old elf through the streets of both towns on Saturday and Sunday. Seeing Claus go by their homes is a highly anticipated moment for young and old. Helpers give out candy canes and fire safety information to the children in North Caldwell. White Christmas May Be Seen in the Region
A weak storm front expected to bring up to two inches of snow starting Monday night.
Cross your fingers. As of Sunday, weather projections indicate a storm front entering the region that could give us—gasp—a white Christmas. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with a temperature ultimately reaching 38 degrees. Stephen Pellettiere, with Ion Weather based at the Morristown Municipal Airport, said current projections appear to have the small storm begin producing at about 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, tapering off at the latest 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. "A little storm is passing to our south," he said. "There's a tenth of an inch of moisture, which translates to about an inch of snow." The North American Aerospace Defense Command has a website that now offers a Santa tracker mobile app to follow the jolly man's magical flight.
They sent him their wish lists, sat on his lap, and left cookies and milk for his arrival. Now the only thing left for children to do is track Santa's progress as he delivers gifts around the world on Christmas Eve. Thanks to the folks behind the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) website, families worldwide can now follow Santa's Christmas journey in real time. The tradition started in 1955 after an advertisement for Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted a telephone number for a special "Santa hotline." Best Holiday Photo Shows Baby Tangled in Lights
Patch users vote baby playing with holiday lights as the best photo in contest.
Baby's first Christmas was not only memorialized in a photo by his parents, but now as the winner of Patch's regional photo contest. The photo, "Wesley Tangled in Lights," was chosen as the winner of Patch's Best Holiday Photo contest. We asked Patch users to submit their favorite holiday photos on participating sites. Photos were then chosen to enter our regional contest where users could vote for the photo they felt was the best. While some photos showed dogs dancing around holiday lights, other photos showed kids with Santa Claus and dressed up for the holiday season.
