Hit-and-Run Suspect Faces DWI Charges

Police say East Rutherford woman struck a car in a West Caldwell parking lot and kept driving on Easter Sunday.

The following charges were reported by Fairfield Police and West Caldwell Police. The subject is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. An East Rutherford woman who allegedly kept driving after striking a car in a West Caldwell parking lot on Easter Sunday faces drunk driving charges. Elaine Wisneski, 26, was arrested by Fairfield Police and charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence in a school zone and other motor vehicle violations on Sunday, March 31. About about 8 p.m., Fairfield Police Officer Gerald Veneziano heard a description of a driver believed to be involved in a hit-and-run in West Caldwell. Police Seek Driver in Caldwell Hit and Run

Two pedestrians struck in early morning while walking along Park Avenue.

Caldwell Police continue to seek a driver of a car who struck two pedestrians on Park Avenue and did not stop in the early morning hours of Dec. 23. Police say one pedestrian suffered a broken right lower leg and dislocated right foot and the other was grazed by the car. The hit and run occurred near the intersection of Ward Place just before 3 a.m. The vehicle is believed to be black and possibly a Honda Accord and would have damage from the impact.  Anyone with information about the hit and run should contact Caldwell Police at 973-226-2600. A hit and run in West Caldwell sent a teenage girl to the hospital on New Year's Eve.
