Six James Caldwell Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Class of 2013 Chiefs commit to play college sports.

Six James Caldwell High School seniors have signed letters of intent to play college sports, Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools announced Thursday.

Mount Saint Dominic Academy places first in Paramus Catholic High School Cheer Invitational.

Mount Saint Dominic Academy cheerleaders placed first in "All Levels" at the 2013 Paramus Catholic High School Cheer Invitational, according to the Mount's Athletic Department.  The competition took place on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Paramus. The Mount is a Catholic girls high school located in Caldwell.

Mount Swim Team Wins State Sectional Championship (Photo)

Lions seek to repeat as State Champs.

The Mount Saint Dominic Academy swim team clinched the Non Public B North State Championship Tuesday with a 112-58 victory over Oak Knoll. The Mount will now swim versus south champion Mount St. Mary's for the state title. The meet will take place on Sunday, starting at 12:15 p.m., at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.  With a win on Sunday, the Lions would repeat as state champs.

Lions' Megan Wujciak Named Athlete of the Month

This Mount Saint Dominic senior is a standout swimmer.

Mount Saint Dominic Academy senior Megan Wujciak has been named the Caldwell school's January Athlete of the Month. Wujciak helped the Lions' swim team achieve a 10-0 regular season record as well as the Essex County and Super Essex Conference titles by winning all of her races, according to an announcement from the school. She has been especially dominant in the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events.

JCHS Swim Chiefs Make a Splash at Essex County Championship Meet

The following article was written by JCHS Head Swim Team Coach Steve Trivino, following impressive wins by both the boys' and girls' swim teams. The James Caldwell High School Swimming Chiefs took to the pool at Seton Hall University on Saturday, Feb 2 and they made quite a splash every time a Chief took to the blocks.    State championship times were achieved and new school records were established. Dave Burton was the most decorated swimmer of the day. Dave set school records in the 200 Freestyle, besting Harry Squires record from 2007 by posting his own time of 1:48.81. Burton also took over Jackson Salters' 100 Butterfly record set in 2011 by crossing the pool in an impressive 54.39. His times not only set the school records, but they …

Donate Used Baseball Gloves to U.S. Troops

The annual Beefsteak Dinner for James Caldwell High School’s Baseball Team will take place on Thursday, Feb. 7. Sophomore player Hunter Smith will be collecting used baseball gloves and new baseballs to be shipped to U.S. Troops serving overseas through Gloves4Troops, a program started by minor league baseball player Vance Albitz in California. Vance ships donations to Afghanistan and other areas around the world where U.S. troops are serving. Cash donations are also needed ($20 covers the cost of shipping a box of 4 gloves and 4 balls). POSTPONED: Coaches Vs. Cancer Reschedule Due to Snow

Benefit basketball game empowers coaches, their teams, and communities to join the fight against cancer.

UPDATE: Coaches vs. Cancer and the girls and boys basketball games scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9 have been postponed to Saturday, Feb. 16. Girls and boys varsity basketball teams from James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell will take to their home courts to raise funds for the American Cancer Society on Saturday, Feb. 9. The girls will play against Cedar Grove at 2 p.m., and the boys will take on Butler at 3:30 p.m. Both games take place in the high school gymnasium. Mount Saint Dominic Alumnae Reunite for Basketball Game

More than 20 former players returned to school for a friendly game in Caldwell Friday.

Three of the highest scorers in Mount Saint Dominic Academy's history were among the players to participate in the school's first annual Alumnae Basketball Game in Caldwell on Friday. The Mount reached out to former players by phone, email and Facebook, rounding up 25 participants who were divided into two teams, Blue and White.  The former faced off in the school's Athletic Center for two, 20-minute halves, and players competed in a three-point contest at halftime. It was a close game, but the Blue team pulled out a 34-31 victory. The high scorer for the game was Meghan Duffy ’11 on the White Team. Caldwell Wrestling Tournament to Air on MSG Varsity

This weekend's tournament will be televised.

The Caldwell Wrestling Tournament taking place this weekend at James Caldwell High School will be televised, according to MSG Varsity. The tournament begins on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m., in West Caldwell. The finals are expected to take place between 4 and 5 p.m. Participating teams include Caldwell, Randolph, Hunterdon Central, Kittatinny, Somerville, West Deptford, Paramus, Hackettstown, St. Peter's Prep and Hanover Park. The tournament will air on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 9:30 p.m., on Optimum TV Channel 14.

Snow Moves Soccer Match

James Caldwell High School girls varsity soccer to face Glen Rock High School in NJSIAA Group II semifinal.

Due to snowy weather predictions for Tuesday, the James Caldwell High School varsity girls soccer NJSIAA Group II semifinal game has been moved to Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools. The Chiefs, winners of the Group II Section 2 championship, will play Glen Rock High School, Section 1 champs, at 5 p.m., at Millburn High School, 462 Millburn Ave., in Millburn. Chief fans will be wearing white and sitting on the home side. The winner of Wednesday's game will travel to face the winner of the Group II game between the South/Central Sections at TCNJ on Sunday, Dec. 2. at 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the game are $4 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and students.
