Essex County Hosts OctoberFest Celebration

Families invited to the Essex County Environmental Center for hiking, refreshments, canoe trips and a petting zoo.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend while enjoying the outdoors? The Essex County Environmental Center will be holding an OctoberFest celebration on Saturday—a free daylong event—that will include a multitude of activities. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the environmental center, located at 621B Eagle Rock Ave., in Roseland. Admission is free and OctoberFest will be held rain or shine. Visitors can go on canoe trips on the Passaic River or nature walks in Essex County’s West Essex Park. There will be a petting zoo, gardening tips, a live beehive display, woodturning demonstrations, pumpkin carving demonstrations, nature arts and crafts, face painting, free refreshments, a pumpkin patch maze and display tables …

Public schools in the Caldwells are closed next week. So what will you do with the kids? Here are a few ideas to help you answer that question.
