Little Falls Train Crash Injures 10, Knocks out Power

A NJ Transit train collided with a tractor-trailer in Little Falls Wednesday morning and injured 10 people, two of them seriously.

[UPDATED 4:15 p.m.] Updates to include revised information on power outage from PSE&G spokeswoman. A NJ Transit passenger train slammed into a tractor-trailer in Little Falls, Wednesday morning, injuring several people, backing up traffic on Pompton Avenue and cancelling trains along the Montclair-Boonton line. PSE&G crews were originally supposed to disable power in Little Falls around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to work on damaged power lines, but were unable to do so until the damaged tractor-trailer was removed, PSE&G spokesperson Kristine Snodgrass told Patch at 4 p.m. Wednesday. As of that time, the truck had yet to be removed and power had not been disrupted to Cedar Grove or Little Falls because the truck needed to be righted and towed …

16-Year-Old Bloomfield Girl Killed in Car Crash

Christina Lembo was pronounced dead shortly after the Honda Civic she was a passenger in was involved in an accident with a Camaro Saturday night.

[Updated 5:15 p.m. Sunday] A 16-year-old Bloomfield High School soccer player died Saturday night in car crash that left four others injured.   Christina Lembo was seated in the back of a 2007 Honda Civic when it was involved in a car crash with a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro at about 11:10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Broughton Avenue and Walter Street in Bloomfield, according to a press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Lembo was transported to University Hospital in Newark, and was pronounced dead a short time later, the release said.  “I heard, 'Bam!' Like a crunch. You heard glass breaking and people screaming,” said high school student Ashley Bieksha, 20, Sunday afternoon, who heard the accident happen from her home…
