Verona police arrest Ronald McManus, an employee of Valente Plumbing and Heating, for outstanding warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia hours after he allegedly left scene of accident.
An employee of a West Caldwell plumbing and heating business, who allegedly struck a car in Verona Thursday while driving his employer’s van, was issued a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident and charged with driving with a suspended license and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Ronald McManus, of North Haledon, was driving on Bloomfield Avenue around 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, when he allegedly hit a car at the intersection of Bloomfield and Fairview avenues and then left the scene, Verona Police officials said. A truck tipped onto its driver's side after colliding with a car at the intersection of Westville Avenue and Gould Place in Caldwell Monday afternoon. The driver was pulled out of the black Ford Explorer from the passenger side door by a Westville Avenue resident who heard the crash and rushed outside to see what happened. The driver of the car, a black Honda Accord, remained in the car until police arrived on the scene. Neither driver appeared to be seriously injured. There were no passengers in either car. The accident was cleared at about 3:40 p.m. and is under investigation by Caldwell Police. The West Essex First Aid Squad and Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. A truck slammed into two houses and a car on Ravine Avenue in Caldwell midday Saturday. The red Dodge pickup was apparently traveling west on Ravine when it veered off the road and hit the front steps of a house as well as an Audi parked in the driveway before crashing into the house next door. The truck was being towed off the side of 60 Ravine Ave., where broken windows and crushed siding could be viewed from the street. The front steps leading to the porch of 58 Ravine Ave. were badly damaged and closed off with police tape. The Caldwell Police Department was still on the scene conducting an investigation at 1 p.m. The Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident. This is a breaking news story.
