An Elizabeth man who is believed to be responsible for apartment burglaries in several Essex County towns—and for allegedly stealing a sheriff's badge—was arrested last week, according to NorthJersey.com. East Rutherford Police charged Raymond Rouland, 45, on June 7 with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft of moveable property and one count of credit card fraud, the article said. More charges are likely, the article said. Rouland is believed to be responsible for other burglaries in Montclair, Maplewood, South Orange, Millburn and Kearny, the article said. Authorities seized items from Rouland's residence that were allegedly stolen in the burglaries, including an Essex County Sheriff's badge, the article said.

Caldwell Police are investigating a burglary reported by a borough business, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page: "There was a burglary at 461 Bloomfield Avenue in the early morning hours on 02/16/2013. Entry was gained through the rear door of the business. Any one who may have information regarding the incident please contact the Caldwell Police Department Detective Bureau at (973) 226-2600." No further information was available from the police department on Sunday. The address, 461 Bloomfield Ave., is for a building shared by Divina Ristorante and Bike Land.

Man caught on tape burglarizing a West Orange Chinese Restaurant is also wanted in Montclair, Millburn, Verona and Fairfield.
A man suspected in more than 150 commercial burglaries in four New Jersey counties over the last two years has been caught on surveillance tape by the West Orange Police Department. The video of the serial burglar's last known job, on Nov. 18 at 4:30 a.m., at the #1 Chinese Kitchen on Main Street, depicts the man breaking into the restaurant by smashing the lower half of a glass door, crawling through the opening, and rummaging through the cash register. He found the register empty and left 15 minutes later, police said. Once police captured the man’s appearance on tape, they were able to get his face out across state channels, West Orange Det. Caldwell Police have posted details on the agency's Facebook page of a burglary and attempted burglary of two Bloomfield Avenue businesses last week. According to the Facebook post, there was an attempted burglary reported by Kids Hair Salon at 392 Bloomfield Ave., on Monday, Jan. 16. The rear door to the business was forced open, however, there were no items reported missing. The next day, Tuesday, Jan. 17, a burglary was reported at nearby Hog Wild BBQ on 405 Bloomfield Ave. The rear door of the restaurant was pried open and approximately $200 in cash was taken from the register.
