Community Center Holding Blood Drive, Lifeguard Training, Summer Camp

The Caldwell Community Center has lots to report in its spring newsletter.  Give Blood The Cooley's Anemia Foundation will host a blood drive at the community center, 1 Provost Square, on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. Area Residents Donate Blood During Severe Emergency Shortage (Photos)

See a list of upcoming blood drives in the Caldwell area.

Residents from Caldwell, Verona, Cedar Grove and other nearby towns lined up at the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad Monday waiting for their turn to donate blood. The Blood Center of New Jersey (BCNJ) is in a Severe Emergency Blood Shortage situation and needs all those who are eligible to donate, according to rescue squad members. Snow storms and seasonal flus have contributed to the blood shortage. Darlene Black-Webb, a registered nurse and team leader for the Blood Center of New Jersey has been assisting with blood donations for 40 years. Sept. 11 Blood Drive in Roseland

Community invited to participate in "Roseland Remembers 9/11 Blood Drive".

West Essex residents are invited to donate blood and help save a life by participating in the second annual “Roseland Remembers 9/11 Blood Drive.” The blood drive will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 1 to 7 p.m., at Roseland Borough Hall, 19 Harrison Ave., in Roseland. “I can't think of a better way to remember those who lost their lives and those whose lives will be forever affected by the devastating events of 9/11/2001 than to help save a life today by making a blood donation,” stated Roseland Mayor John Duthie. Donors should weigh more than 110 pounds and be in general good health. Blood Drive Wednesday

West Essex First Aid Squad hosts blood drive at its headquarters.

The West Essex First Aid Squad will host a blood drive on Wednesday, March 14, from 3 to 8 p.m., at its headquaters at 642 Bloomfield Ave. in West Caldwell. Donors will receive a $10 ShopRite gift card for participating. To be eligible to donate, you must weigh at least 120 lbs.  It is recommended that you eat one hour before making a donation.  The West Essex First Aid Squad (WEFAS) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that services the West Essex Area free of charge.
