Due to the growing population of Caldwell Township, West Caldwell was incorporated as an individual borough on…More Feb. 16, 1904. The borough consisted of 3,175 acres and 410 people. Designated a township in 1982, West Caldwell now has 11,233 residents, according to the 2000 census.
West Caldwell has a mayor-council form of government with the mayor elected for a four-year term and the six council members elected for three-year terms. There are six standing committees of the Township Council and each member chairs one of the committees.
