No offense but a $5.00 limit on credit card purchases is no big deal.You should be more worried that this store is a DUMP and makes downtown caldwell look bad. Its old and dirty. Jack the owner is too damn cheap to update this store.

My biggest beef with this store is that they have a minimum credit card purchase requirement, which they technically are not allowed to do per their credit card merchant agreement.
I used to go in there for some quick items and pay with my card, but ever since they implemented that new policy, I've taken my business elsewhere.

TECHNICALLY laws related to the merchant agreement have changed and therefore Foodtown and any other store in the state of New Jersey is within its legal rights to restrict any charge under 5 Dollars. Some businesses such as Gas Stations even have Restrictions up to 10$.
If a merchant is paying 10-20 cents per transaction on a 1.00 purchase it is simply not worth the transaction. I'm sure by you going to another store for your under 5$ purchases has caused little to no effect on business. Please do not be ignorant and learn what you are talking about before opening your mouth.
