Labor Day, Rosh Hashanah, Blues Festival and More This Week

Monday is Labor Day. Township offices and the libraries will be closed.

School doesn't start until Sept. 9, so don't forget that the Westville Pool will remain open after the holiday from Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Cedar Street Pool will still close for the season on Sunday, Sept. 2. 

The Caldwell Borough Council business meeting for Tuesday has been canceled. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at 7 p.m. at borough hall.

Get ready for your weekend garage/yard/estate sale by filling out this easy (and free!) form on Monday. Patch will use the information build an interactive map for people to find your weekend sale. 

The West Caldwell Township Council will convene for a meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at town hall, at 30 Clinton Road. 

The Jewish New Year begins at sundown on Wednesday and ends at sundown on Friday. Check out some of these local and nearby businesses taking orders for the holiday. 

Also on Thursday is a piano recital at the West Caldwell Public Library. The recital will feature 17-year old pianist John Franek, of West Caldwell. He will begin playing at 7 p.m. in the library's Community Room. 

Franek will perform original compositions including "Prelude No. 1 in C minor," "Contredanse in G major, " Rondo No. 2 in F major." and"Konzertstuck in E flat major." "Without a Care" Rag and "Ocean Current Etude" will also be performed.

New Jersey music man Mike Griot leads the 4th annual South Orange International Blues Festival on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. South Mountain Reservation. 
The festival will feature blues luminaries Dave Stryker & Blue to the Bone, Dean Shot, Michael Hills Blues Mob, Billy Hector, Lil' Bastad, Bill Sims Jr., and Al Gold. The "Culinary Rocker" Johnny Ciao hosts the day. Food and drink are available onsite all day.
