When local residents Bob and Janet Markman witnessed firsthand the benefits of Caldwell College’s (ABA), they knew they wanted to find a way to help the Center. The result? A generous donation to name a consultation room in the Center.

While touring the Center for ABA with the and Dr. Sharon Reeve, executive director of the center, the Markmans were introduced to a young boy receiving services there. The tour, part of a visit by the Rotary Club to the College, followed the Rotary’s recent $17,500 donation to the Center. The Markmans were amazed to learn that the child who was speaking, interacting and having fun, had been non-communicative just four months earlier. After hearing about and witnessing the results, the Markmans were moved to support the Center.

“I looked at my wife, Janet, and said we have to do something,” said Markman. She agreed.

“We are all responsible for our actions and the choices we make,” added Markman. “All too often, we become desensitized and removed from the needs in the world. When you can, rethink if that money, even part of it, could be put to better use—to help others in need.”

Started in 1964, the Foundation has raised more than $1 million for cardiac care facilities throughout the state. Namesake, John Crecco, annually sponsors little league and youth teams, and the Crecco Athletic Club sponsors an annual Junior Olympic Annual Track and Field Meet.
