Local Efforts to Help Victims of Hurricane Irene
Area organizations roll up their sleeves to help friends and neighbors.
With access to many areas of Fairfield opening again, the devastation of soon will be evident in new ways as some home and business owners are allowed to return. However, all About Town friends and neighbors are pitching in to help those in need.
But, what is the best way to help? How do you donate or pitch in? Several businesses, organizations and religious institutions are offering easy ways for everyone to help.
Donations Are Needed

The Fairfield Conservation and Sportsmen’s Association (FCSA) will accept donations to help the community and residents of Fairfield. Donations will go primarily toward the restoration and replenishment of materials at . Hurricane Irene flooded the school, resulting in the loss of supplies, books and electronic equipment, and disrupting classroom setup and more. Donors can specify how they wish their funds to be used, and the organization will route the donation accordingly.
“We have heard that generous people want to help those in need, but have no ‘local’ place to send money that will have a direct impact for the community and residents of Fairfield,” said Michael Leno, President and Trustee, Fairfield Conservation and Sportsmen's Association.

The FCSA operates the Children's and Disabled American's Fund, a non-profit charitable organization that hosts an annual fishing derby for the children of Fairfield, and aids local families who have a family member with a disability or medical condition that has brought financial hardship.

Hands on Help
Looking for a more hands-on approach to helping local victims of Hurricane Irene? Or, maybe you are a neighbor in need! The Mission Team at , North Caldwell, will assist anyone in need of help with emptying or readying his or her home as a result of The Mission Team has spent summers helping victims of Hurricane Katrina.
