American Legion Earns Award for Gould Fire Fundraiser

The Rotary Club presented the 'S.M. 'Sam' Kent - Service Above Self Award' to the James Caldwell Post No. 185 American Legion.

The local American Legion’s fundraiser last month generated more than $12,000 to help assist the families displaced by the 12 Gould Place fire back in January.

The Rotary Club of The Caldwells presented the “S.M. 'Sam' Kent - Service Above Self Award” to the James Caldwell Post No. 185 American Legion on Tuesday for their work.

This annual award is given to noteworthy individuals and groups that have provided extraordinary service to the community.

The three persons receiving honorable mention were Brian Armstrong, Joseph DeBellis, and William Hyer — active members of the James Caldwell Post #185 American Legion, all of whom spearheaded this special fire victims’ fundraising event.

The Rotary Club’s weekly lunch meeting is held at The Cloverleaf Tavern.
