Dog Tails - Janie

I don't think I'll ever understand people.  This little girl was found with a huge, heavy padlocked chain around her neck.  she dragged the chain through the city, and finally, someone brought her into animal control where they couldn't be bothered to remove the chains.  

My friend Stephanie was there that day.  She slowly took her time as she worked to pull the chains off.  After she did, Stephanie surely had a new doggy friend.

Janie was skittish.  If she wasn't pulled within a week, she would be put down.  It took a little time for her to trust people.  I can see why.

She sits calmly next to my two dogs and respectfully gives them their space. She is terribly skinny and I can see her bones.  I will feed her until I can't count each one.

She sits at my feet, looking up at me with complete adoration.  When I get up to go to the bathroom, she tries to follow me in.  I want to believe that she was somebody's dog once, but then, as I look at the marks where she has obviously been beaten, I don't want to believe that anymore.

I see the beauty, and the magic in this little girl's eyes.  This weekend when she makes her debut at our adoption event, I hope that others can see it, too.
