Trinity Girls Named 2012 Soccer League Champs

7/8 girls compete in West Essex Youth Sports Alliance (WEYSA).

Trinity Academy soccer teams enjoyed a successful soccer season. Girls in grades 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 and boys in grades 1/2 and 3/4 participated in the West Essex Youth Sports Alliance (WEYSA), playing against teams from Caldwell, West Caldwell, North Caldwell, Fairfield, Roseland, Essex Fells and Cedar Grove.

The teams played a ten game season from mid-September through the end of October, with playoff games during November. The teams enjoyed a fun and competitive season, with several of the Trinity Saints teams placing in top standings for their age groups.

The 7/8 girls team won their league with an 8-2 record. They received trophies and a “League Champs” banner will proudly be hung in the Trinity Academy gym.

The 1/2 girls team finished the season with a 6-2-2 record, earning them a second place finish in the WEYSA league. The girls prided themselves with a dominate defense allowing the least amount of goals per game and recording a league high 6 shutouts.

In addition, Trinity offered a soccer clinic for kindergarten students to introduce them to the game.
