Road Trip Takes Caldwell High Baseball Team to Cal Ripken Stadium

Chiefs rout Passaic Valley in games played at 6,000-seat stadium in Maryland.

A recent road trip took the James Caldwell High School baseball team to Cal Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md.

The Chiefs usually travel every other year to play in Cooperstown, N.Y., but instead went to the 6,000-seat Cal Ripken Stadium instead last month. The stadium is home to the Aberdeen Ironbirds, the Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

Caldwell High made the most of the trip, beating Passaic Valley 13-2 in eight innings on April 26. The game was coordinated by JCHS coach Tom Lamont and Passaic Valley coach John Mazzo, a West Caldwell resident.
