Paul Theobald Receives 2012 Kevin Collis Award

Award honors memory of James Caldwell High School student-athlete who died more 20 years ago.

The Caldwells Athletic Club and James Caldwell High School presented the 2012 Kevin Collis Award to Paul Theobald at the Jr. Chiefs annual A-Team Football and Cheerleading Dinner held on Jan. 4.

Theobold is an eighth grader at Grover Cleveland Middle School in Caldwell and a young athlete, who according to the inscription on the award, “exemplifies a Junior Chief with Hard Work, Positive Attitude, Dedication to the Game and Service to His Friends and Community.”

Collis was a senior student-athlete in James Caldwell High School’s Class of 1993. He was on his way home from a Jr. Chief’s football game in Fairfield when he was involved in a car accident. He succumbed to his injuries six weeks later.

Paul was awarded the honor by his coaches, Frank Laratta Sr., Carmine Scaglione, Marty Powers, Joe Dente Sr., Tom Senif, Joe Dente Jr. (who made the presentation), Kevin Cavallo, Frank Laratta Jr., Michael Aliotta and Anthony Aramenta.

“Thank you for carrying on the honorable standards that made Kevin such a memorable person,” stated a release from The Caldwells Athletic Club. "Anyone who knew Kevin is reminded what a special young man he was and for those who did not know him get insight into his character each year through the recipient of this award."
