Harlem Wizards Face CWC SuperStars in Charity Basketball Game

'Tricks, Hoops & Alley-Oops' event will raise money for Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools.

A basketball team known for its exceptional talent and outrageous comedic acts will challenge a team of principals, teachers, parents and community leaders to benefit local students.

The World-Famous Harlem Wizards basketball team is slated to face off against the Caldwell-West Caldwell Superstars at the Tricks, Hoops, and Alley-Oops Basketball Game at 12:30 p.m., on Feb 23, at the James Caldwell High School Gym. 

Refreshments, 50/50 raffle tickets and Wizard memorabilia will be available for sale.

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation.

CWC Education Foundation President MaryAnn Campion said she's thrilled with the participation from the principals, teachers, parents and community members. 

“I am extremely proud of the teamwork demonstrated by the Education Foundation, CWC school district and our community to support our schools," Campion said. "In the end, our children are the real winners."

The SuperStars team of 25 players includes GCMS principal James Brown, Wilson School principal Scott Keena, Lincoln School principal Adam Geher, Jefferson School principal Tim Ayers, Washington School teachers Ms. Kerrigan and Peter Protogiannis, Music teacher William Downey, PE teacher Ms. Zeman, Caldwell Councilman Ed Durkin, as well as other favorite teachers and parents. 

Washington School teacher, Mrs. Lockard, will be scorekeeper and team captain is West Caldwell parent, Recreation basketball coach, and Education Foundation Treasurer, Darren “High Flying” Fusaro. 

JCHS student, Nicole Garamella, will sing the National Anthem and JCHS cheerleaders will cheer on the SuperStars.

Students at the CWC schools will experience a preview of the Harlem Wizards’ fancy footwork and ball-handling when one of the players provides a demonstration at each school on February 20.

Seats are limited and expected to sell-out. Tickets may be purchased by mail, online at (www.Harlemwizards.com), or onsite at the JCHS gym, if still available. 

Advanced general admission tickets are $12 for adults/$10 for students; $20 for reserved premium seats and $30 for VIP front-row seating, including a special Meet-and-Greet with the Wizards players and souvenir photo.
