Caldwell Lacrosse Defeats Millburn 5-3

Varsity 2-0 going into Thursday's game with West Morris Central.

The Caldwell Chiefs squared off against the Millburn Millers in boys Lacrosse on the road Monday.

Caldwell varsity defeated Millburn 5-3, but the Millers junior varsity squad came back to beat Caldwell with a score of 5-3.

Caldwell varsity players who scored were Timothy DeVincenzo, Sean Dyer, Billy Pierce and Ryan Slane.

In the varsity game, Caldwell boys scored one goal each in the first, third and fourth quarters and two goals in the second quarter. The Millers played tough and scored goals in the second and fourth quarters.

Players Ben Cebula, Maxwell Nemerow and Nathan Weinrauch all scored for Millburn.

Millburn's junior varsity boys took an early lead against Caldwell and was ahead 3-1 at halftime. But Caldwell JV rallied to get two points in the second half, though they lost by a final score of 5-3.

It is the first time the teams have squared off against each other this season.

Caldwell varsity is 2-0 after defeating Pingry in the season opener. The Chiefs face West Morris Central on Thursday and Montville on Saturday.
