Football: Caldwell Tops Verona In Thanksgiving Day Bowl

The Chiefs will take the momentum into NJSIAA State Championships on Dec. 7.

Caldwell topped Verona on Thanksgiving to mark their ninth win in a row. 

James Caldwell High School beat out Verona 14-6 on Thursday in front of hundreds of fans at West Essex High School. 

The Chiefs were led to victory by Caldwell quarterback Joseph Salter, who threw two second-quarter touchdown passes to Jack Kinney, according to NJ.com. 

Verona's Matt McKeown rushed for a score on the final play of the game to avoid a shutout, according to NJ.com.

Caldwell leads the series all-time over Verona in the annual Thanksgiving day game, 29-25.

James Caldwell will take the momentum into NJSIAA State Championships. The Chiefs will take on Mountain Lakes on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at Kean University.
