Caldwell Chiefs 14U Softball Team Clinches Title

'The team's success was a result of the hard work that the girls put in at every practice and playing all facets of the game very well,' said coach Peter Frazza.

The Caldwell Chiefs 14U softball team put the finishing touches on an undefeated season last week by winning the Bi-County League championship. 

The Chiefs shut out Hanover Park 9-0 to win the title game on July 30. The win gave the Chiefs a 12-0 record for the season, where the girls averaged 11 runs a game. 

The Chief's were led by coaches Peter Frazza and Carl Lombardi, and assistent coach and James Caldwell High School varsity softball player Val Murphy.

"The team's success was a result of the hard work that the girls put in at every practice and playing all facets of the game very well," Frazza said. "The future of Caldwell High School softball is very bright."

To get to the championship game, the girls beat out Cedar Grove 7-1 on July 29 in the semi-final playoff game.

The Chiefs also went 5-1 in the annual Six Team 14U Tournament this summer. The Chiefs' sole loss came in the championship game against West Milford (3-2) at Caldwell College in June. 

This Chief's successful summer season followed a spring where the team won the Suburban League Championship and ended the season with a 11-1 record.
