WEFE Holds Annual Cut-a-Thon at Panico Salon & Spa

Proceeds raise funds for grants for West Essex teachers.

Smart boards, French magazines and bacteria kits are just some of the educational extras the West Essex Foundation for Education (WEFE) has helped purchase through its fundraising efforts for West Essex Schools.

One of the many ways WEFE raises money is through an annual cut-a-thon which has become a highly anticipated spring tradition. The popular event took place once again on Tuesday, June 7, at in West Caldwell.

For a $25 donation, West Essex students, as well as their siblings, parents and supporters, came in for a haircut between 3 and 7:30 p.m.

Owner Jack Panico, a West Essex graduate and father of two children in the school district, doesn’t schedule appointments during this block of time in order to dedicate the full space to the fundraiser. Appointments are not necessary and some come in simply just to get a great price on a haircut.
