Turkey Trot Tests Fitness, Helps Hungry

North Caldwell students combine President's Fitness Challenge with community service.

Students in North Caldwell combined physical fitness and community service last week during the fifth annual “Turkey Trot.”

Gould School students completed a mile run and other activities, as part of the President’s Fitness Challenge, as well as collected food for the hungry.

They prepared in their physical education classes and achieved their personal bests in five tests: push-ups, curl ups, sit and reach (flexibility), shuttle run, and the mile run.

Students and their families donated 69 frozen turkeys and nearly 300 canned goods, which were brought to the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church. The church will be distributing the donations to food banks around Essex County.
