BOE Recognizes National Merit Scholarship Commended Students

James Caldwell High School seniors Sean Buckley, William Evers and Emily Scott have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, Principal Kevin Barnes announced recently.On Monday, the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education presented the students with proclamations acknowledging their achievements. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSAT.) “Recognizing academically talented students plays a fundamental role in the advancement of educational excellence within our nation,” an NMSC spokesperson said. “The young people recognized as Commended Students represent some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program.”  “We would like to extend our congratulations and thanks to Sean, William and Emily for representing our school and state in such a positive way,” said Barnes. “Earning the honor of being named a National Merit Commended Student is truly an accomplishment.”  This article was provided by Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools.
