Musicians from the School of Rock Montclair will present a “Tribute to Queen” at James Caldwell High School’s Center for Performing Arts on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26 and 27.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the high school’s Music & More Booster Club.
“We’re thrilled that School of Rock Montclair will be putting on these concerts for Music & More,” Ron Goltsch, co-president of the booster club, stated in a release. “The audiences will enjoy incredible music and exciting shows, and the proceeds will be used to provide seniors with scholarships to help them further their music education after they graduate.”
Queen was one of the most popular rocks bands in the world in the mid-1970s and were second only to The Beatles in their native England.
More than two dozen musicians, ages 7 to 17, will perform in the two School of Rock Montclair concerts, recreating such timeless hits as “Another One Bites the Dust,” “We Are the Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody to Love” and “Under Pressure.”
The young musicians are part of the School of Rock's Performance Program and have been rehearsing for four hours each week since September.
Tickets are $10. Doors will open at 5 p.m., concerts are at 6 p.m.
