Retired Teacher Takes Seat on Board of Education

Thomas Adams and Paula Getty sworn in at 2013 Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools Reorganization Meeting.

A new and a returning Board of Education member were sworn in Monday night at the Caldwell-West Caldwell Reorganization Meeting.

Business Administrator Kerry Keane administered the oath to Thomas Adams, a retired high school teacher in the district, and Paula Getty, an attorney. This will be Adams' first three-year term on the Board of Education. Getty has served on the board since 2009.

Following the oaths, Mary Davidson was chosen by unanimous vote to serve as president of the board. Getty will serve as vice president.

"Thank you for your confidence in me and I look forward to working with you," said Davidson, who previously served as president of the board in 2011.

I hope Mr. Adams realizes he represents the interests of the parents and taxpayers of Caldwell/W Caldwell and not the Teachers Union.

He is a plant by the Mayor so we can get the much needed turf fields.

Even if that was true TURFY, Mr. Adams is only one vote. He would need other BOE members to go along with him. And even then, a project that size would have to go out for a referendum vote (which it did many years ago was was rejected by the voters). Sooooo your understanding of how local government works is less than impressive.

The mayor wants the Board of Ed. to sell the field to the town for a dollar so the town can turf it without putting it to a vote. Since you are a retired attorney KEVIN B. do some research. B must be for bonehead. Higher taxes are a comin.
