Report: James Caldwell, West Essex High Schools Earn High Grades in Average SAT Scores

Inside Jersey released its annual report this week ranking and grading high schools throughout the state.

James Caldwell and West Essex Regional High schools earned high grades and were ranked among the top seven schools in Essex County, according to a report by Inside Jersey.

The publication assessed average student SAT scores from the previous four years. In addition, the scores and other information — such as the High School Proficiency Assessment results for language arts and math tests — were taken into account and weighted to give each school an overall grade of A, B, C or D. 

James Caldwell High School was given an A. Students posted an average SAT score of 1594 — up 3.4 percent from the previous year. The SAT scores ranked James Caldwell High School No. 7 in Essex County.  

West Essex High School was given a B. Students posted an average SAT score of 1598 — up 5.1 percent from the previous year. This SAT score ranked West Essex No. 6 in Essex County. 

Millburn High School students had the top SAT scores in the county with an average of 1857.

Other schools in Essex County that received an A were Glen Ridge, Verona and Livingston.
