Archbishop Celebrates Mass At Mount St. Dominic

The Most Rev. Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda, Coadjutor of the Archdiocese of Newark, celebrated Mass on Jan. 14 at Mount Saint Dominic Academy. 

Sister Fran Sullivan, Head of School, invited the archbishop to visit the high school and see the many good things that are happening at the school.

The Epiphany liturgy took place in the Doris M. Byrne Performing Arts Center and in attendance were the students, faculty, staff and member of the Board of Trustees and Caldwell resident and former mayor, Susan Gartland. Archbishop 

Hebda reminded us to "continue to unwrap the gift of Christmas. The young women at The Mount have been blessed with many gifts and should bring these gifts forward. 

"Pay attention to people's needs, develop your own special gifts and with strength and perseverance, God will do the rest."

Following the mass, Archbishop Hebda greeted each of the students individually and conversed with 14 Mount St. Dominic scholarship recipients including West Caldwell resident, Emma Davison, class of 2017. 

He toured the school with The Mount's senior class ambassador guides, and among them were Caldwell resident, Maura Rasmussen and West Caldwell resident, Katie Bolger. 

The archbishop then joined in a discussion in religion class and viewed the library media center. 

He thanked the young women for their warm welcome and the opportunity to visit the all-girls, Catholic, Dominican high school in the diocese he serves. Mount Saint Dominic faculty, staff and student body equally appreciated  his presence.
