Middle Schoolers Hit a High Note at Music Competitions
Grover Cleveland students excel for fourth straight year at music ensembles in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Grover Cleveland Middle School students scored high ratings for the fourth year in a row at music ensembles in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The sixth-grade band, chorus, and orchestra at the school each received Superior ratings at the Musical Carousel Festival in Jackson on May 17. The groups performed selections of their choice and averaged about 20 minutes in length. Judges rated performances as superior, excellent or good.
At the High Note Festival on May 31 in Allentown, Pa., the 7th- and 8th-grade chorus also received a Superior rating, and the 7th-grade band, 8th-grade band, and 7th- and 8th-grade orchestra receiving Excellent ratings.
“Our music students continue to impress us,” said the school's supervisor of music Scott Chamberlain. “Traditionally, we receive all or nearly all Superior ratings. Although this year a few excellent ratings were achieved, our students did an incredible job and we couldn’t be prouder.”
The High Note Festivals were created by Dr. Alyn J. Heim, former president of MENC All-Eastern Division, and a former president of New Jersey Music Educators Association.
