Middle School Principal Resigns

Casey Shorter appointed Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Montville.

Grover Cleveland Middle School Principal Casey Shorter has resigned, according to a letter sent home to parents of the Caldwell school Thursday. 

Shorter has accepted a position as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Montville. His last day with the district will be August 17.

Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools Superintendent Daniel Gerardi stated in the letter: "While we are saddened to hear this news, I know you'll join me in congratulating this exceptional administrator for the time he has spent at ."

will lead the search for a replacement, according to the letter.

According to a , Montville Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried said Shorter was selected after a rigorous hiring process.

Fried said he comes to the district with "a great deal of experience.”

Shorter began his career in education as a sixth grade teacher, then became a high school guidance counselor, an elementary school principal, and  since 2004. He recently earned a doctorate degree from Seton Hall University.
