Marching Knights Head to Hershey Park for Championships

West Essex marching band earned highest score in the Tournament of Bands.

The West Essex Regional Marching Knights scored a 92.35 in the Tournament of Bands “Championship Weekend” held at West Essex High School this weekend. The score beats the band's previous high mark of 92.10 received last year.

"The students put on a great performance this past Sunday night," stated Marching Band Director John Scozzaro in a release. "They electrified the crowd and always find a little extra energy when they perform on our home turf. The band is getting ready for the Atlantic Coast Championships and look to have another amazing performance."

The Knights will travel to Hershey Park Sunday to compete in the Group II open category at the Atlantic Coast Championships. The 65 students in the West Essex Marching Knights will perform their show “Gotham: Escape from Arkham Asylum.”

Senior and clarinetist Jason Ammo from North Caldwell said this year’s routine is “fast-paced and high-energy.”
