2014-15 Kindergarten Registration Begins In February

Parents can soon begin registering their young children for kindergarten in the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District. 

During the week of Feb. 10, the district will conduct its annual kindergarten registration for the 2014-15, Superintendent of Schools James Heinegg wrote in a press release. 

"We ask that all children eligible for kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year be registered so that we may efficiently plan for our September classes," the superintendent's press release stated. 

For a student to be eligible for kindergarten in September, he or she must be five years old on or before Oct. 1. 

Parents planning to register a child must stop by an elementary school office prior to the week of Feb 10, and request the necessary registration materials.

Registration materials consist of enrollment procedures, registration schedule, medical forms and pupil admission form, and more.

All registration materials must be returned to your child's elementary school on the day of kindergarten registration.

No mail-in or e-mail registrations will be accepted. 

The district will also work with the West Essex YMCA of Livingston to provide its Kindergarten Enrichment Program for families who required extended day care before or after school.

Registration Schedule 

Parents can register their child by returning all the necessary information to their child's school on the dates below:  

• Lincoln Elementary School, on Crane Street in Caldwell, on Monday, Feb. 10 from 9-11 a.m. 
• Washington Elementary School, on Central Avenue in West Caldwell: Children with last names beginning with A-L on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 9-11 a.m., and those with last names beginning with M-Z can register on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 9-11 a.m.
• Wilson Elementary School, on Orton Road in West Caldwell: Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 9-11 a.m. 
• Jefferson Elementary School, on Prospect Street in West Caldwell: Thursday, Feb. 13, from 9-11 a.m.
