Jefferson Jaguars Display Bear Dens (Photos)

First graders create habitats of black, brown, grizzly and polar bears.

First graders at Jefferson Elementary School in West Caldwell recently completed a science unit on bears. The students studied black, brown, grizzly and polar bears in the first grade classes of Mrs. Monk, Ms. Juliano and Ms. Jarvie. As part of the unit, the students create bear dens using what they learned. They use everything from twigs and rocks to cotton balls and clay to create the habitats of their assigned bear.
