James Caldwell High Given Sportsmanship Award

'This is a great honor and the result of hard work on the part of our coaches, student, athletes and parents,' said high school Athletic Director Rich Porfido.

The James Caldwell High School athletic program has a proven track record of sportsmanship, and coaches throughout New Jersey agree.

Coaches of the Super Essex Conference recently voted JCHS as one of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association's Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2012-13 school year.

JCHS is one of four schools out of NJSIAA's 433 accredited, public, private and parochial high schools in the state to receive the prestigious Sportsmanship Award. All four schools will be presented with a banner to commemorate the recognition at a NJSIAA meeting in December.

"This is a great honor and the result of hard work on the part of our coaches, student, athletes and parents,” said high school Athletic Director Rich Porfido. “The recognition of our athletes, coaches and fans is a reflection of the sportsmanship we strive to achieve in our athletic programs."

One of the major requirements to receive the award is for the school athletic program to be disqualification free, i.e. not one student athlete or coach was disqualified from any athletic event held during last school year.
