Grover Cleveland Students Accepted into NJMSA Chorus

Nine eighth-graders to perform in concert on Sunday.

Nine students from Grover Cleveland Middle School in Caldwell have been accepted into the North Jersey Music Educators Association Junior High School Region I Chorus.

Under the guidance of chorus director Deana Larsen, eighth-graders Ken Axe, Joseph Lombardi, Elise Maiorano, Jodi Maloney, Ashvin Nagarajan, and Jordan Whiting; and seventh graders Portia Ali, Nicole Caracappa and Jude Lammers auditioned and were accepted into the chorus.

Auditions were held on Feb. 1, where the students auditioned with hundreds of performers from the seven northern NJ counties. Performers had to demonstrate a variety of vocal skills, including diatonic major scales, and perform a memorized solo. Performers with the highest scores are accepted into the regional group. The students will perform in a concert at Secaucus High School on Sunday at 3 p.m.
