Essex County College Offering Health Certificate Programs In January

The local county college located in West Caldwell will offer training for healthcare professionals and medical office administrative assistant.

Essex County College in West Caldwell will offer a pair of Allied Health certificate programs in January. 

The following classes will be offered: 

ICD-10 Training for Healthcare Professionals: This a 10-session course designed for medical coders, billers, clinicians, front desk staff and managers.

The medical industry will implement the new ICD-10 coding system effective October 2014. Participants will be exposed to human pathophysiology, ICD-9 to ICD-10 code conversions as well as guidelines of ICD-10-CM needed to accurately code and sequence diagnoses. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, starting Monday, Jan. 27, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Cost of the program is $335.

Medical Office Administrative Assistant: This is a 20-session certificate program designed to prepare individuals to coordinate and perform administrative functions as needed in a healthcare setting.

Participants who successfully complete this program will be eligible to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 6-10 p.m. Total cost is $885, with a payment plan available.
