Cutest Couple Announced, Coaches vs. Cancer Rescheduled in the Week Ahead

A look at the week ahead and what stories Patch plans to cover.

Here are some of the stories we're working on and what's happening this week in the Caldwells. See you around!

—The Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Harrison School. Superintendent James Heinegg will report on harrassment and bullying incidents in the district from the first half of the school year.

—Caldwells Patch will announce the winner of our "Cutest Couple" contest around 5 p.m. Monday. Thirteen area sweethearts have been competing for the title and a chance to win a dozen roses and dinner for two for Valentine's Day. You have until noon Monday to vote for your favorite two-some.

—Caldwell residents received a soliciation in the mail recently from the newly established Caldwell Police Foundation. We talked to President Russell Bleeker, owner of Gelotti's ice cream, about the foundation. Look for a story early this week.

—The North Caldwell Council meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at borough hall.

—Feb. 13 is Ash Wednesday. Here's a guide to distrubution of ashes in the Caldwells.

—Essex County officials will be discussing results of the recently completed Deer Management Program on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at a press conference in West Orange. Patch will be there.

The program, which recently completed its sixth year on Feb. 7, began Jan. 22 and was culled back by county officials when Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. announced the program on Jan. 15.

The program took place in the Essex County South Mountain Reservation, the Hilltop Reservation and the old Essex County Hospital Center complex. It did not include the Eagle Rock Reservation this year.

—A new Indian/Thai restaurant called Citrus recently opened in West Caldwell. We'll stop by and talk to the owners, try the food and tell you all about it later this week.

—Coaches vs. Cancer was rescheduled due to this weekend's snowstorm to Saturday, Feb. 16. James Caldwell High School's boys and girls basketball teams will both compete in this benefit for the American Cancer Society. 

—The good seats are selling out fast for Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation's second annual "Dancing With Our Community Stars." See who's dancing for mirror ball trophies on Feb. 23 and find out how to get your tickets.
