The start of 2014 marked the induction of two new members to the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education.
Dan Cipoletti and Marie Lanfrank were sworn in to the Board of Education on Monday night. Both Cipoletti and Lanfrank were elected to three-year terms in November’s election.
“It feels great,” said Cipoletti after taking his seat on the board Monday. “I’m just happy to be part of this group that will hopefully continue to guide this school system in the right direction.”
Lanfrank, who has spent years in education as a teacher and school administrator, said she felt very comfortable taking her seat on the board. One of the perks, she joked, was being able to ask her questions anytime instead of waiting for the public comment portion of the meeting.
The two freshmen board members unseated incumbents Rosanne Hansen and John King in the 2013 election.
Hansen, who had been a regular attendee at board meetings for years before her tenure as a board member began in 2001, attended Monday’s meeting and sat in the front row with a pen and pad in hand.
After congratulating Cipoletti and Lanfrank and offering them well wishes, she asked the board a question about a financial item on the agenda.
The board also unanimously reappointed Mary Davidson as Board President.
“We have a lot of exciting things we
have been working on," said Davidson, "and we look forward to bringing the new board members on board with us."
