Caldwell Boy Records Anti-Bullying Song (You Tube)

Third-grader from Jefferson School composed 'I Know What You've Been Through' after seeing his buddy be bullied at school.

Caldwell third grader Jake Edelstein wants children everywhere to know what bullying feels like.

When he was in second grade, Jake composed "I Know What You've Been Through" after seeing his good friend get bullied at their elementary school.

The story and the song's sympathetic message touched the heart of a grown-up—but not just any grown-up.

The story is told this week in the New Jersey Jewish News, and the video can be watched above and on You Tube.

From "I Know What You've Been Through"

I saw a group of kids standing in the field

Their faces looked angry and their lips were sealed

I know what you’ve been through

It’s happened to me too

In almost everything I do

Oh yeah, I know what you’ve been through

I said it’s happened to me too

I’m trying to pick you up

Get you back onto your feet

I know what you’ve been through

They pushed me out and they surrounded my friend

I could barely hear him whispering, “This is the end”

They were yelling and screaming

And they shoved him to the fence

Then I saw a tear…

Man, these kids are really tense

I know what you’ve been through

It’s happened to me too

They’ve got some BIG anger issues, oh yeah

You have to get over this one thing real soon

I know what you’ve been through

They did way worse than you do

I want to make it up to you

I know what you’ve been through.

Jake was featured on the Caldwells Patch in the fall when he invited the community to play at his cardboard arcade.
